City Rides Into New Era: Bike Trail Dedication Set For November 30th Three Bikes Being Raffled Off
Lace up your walking shoes and join the City for a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new Bike Trail and Pedestrian Path on Monday, November 30th. The event will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Bike Trail's gateway, located at the corner of Woodruff Avenue and Flower Street. The ceremony is free and open to the public.
Parking for the event will be available on Flower Street, Flora Vista Street and surrounding streets. Flower Street from Bixby Avenue to Flora Vista Street will be closed to through traffic from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
The 2.3-mile path, which runs along the Metro Right-of-Way from Lakewood Boulevard to Caruthers Park, will be open to walkers and bicycles. Horses and motorized vehicles will not be permitted.
The ceremony will include remarks from City leaders and dignitaries, as well as a performance by the Bellflower High School Marching Band. Kaiser Permanente will also be on hand with a Healthy Living Refreshment Booth. Bellflower Bicycles has generously donated a pair of bikes - one boys and one girls - and Kaiser Permanente has donated an adult mountain bike that will all be raffled off.
